Featured Rescue - Magan

So you know how I'm always going on about how rescues need to get GOOD pictures to post with their animals that are up for adoption?? Well here's one picture that stood out to me when I was flipping through Petfinder. This is an AWESOME picture!!

Magan is almost 4 years old and was the only survivor of her litter. She is being cared for in a foster home with CAT-A-MATCH RESCUE in Ottawa, ON.

Black Cat Friday - Peabody-DazzleU

I love the name they chose for this guy! Peabody-DazzleU. Good grief - some of the people who pick animal names are SO creative! At 12 weeks old, he's still a baby. He's being cared for by a foster home affiliated with Shelter to Home, Inc. (MI)
Today is Black Cat Friday. Did you remember? Do you have a blog? Why not feature a cat/dog in need of a home today? Any publicity is helpful - who knows, maybe people will begin to understand the staggering numbers that are out there ... probably not, but we can hope!

Featured Rescue - Libby and Hobbes

I love Dilutes. Can't help it and I don't know why. Today's Featured Rescue is Libby (left) - a Dilute Calico from Rochester NY and her kitten, Hobbes (right). Here's their story:

Libby had her kittens in the back of someone's car late last summer. Imagine their surprise when they opened the car door and a very scared Libby scooted out! Three tiny kittens lay on the backseat and the car's owner didn't know what to do. We bottlefed them overnight until we were finally able to catch Libby in a humane trap and reunite her with her babies. One of Libby's kittens is still at the shelter too (see "Hobbes"). Libby is around 3 years old. Hobbes is 1.5 years.

Libby and Hobbes are both being cared for by Four-Legged Friends Animal Adoptions, Inc.

Featured Rescue - Black Cat Friday

Keeping with the trend for Black Cat Friday, I have found this lovely looking guy with a terrible picture. Check it out ... it looks like someone put his tail in an electrical socket. To add insult to injury, they have named to poor guy "Twitch". Ugh.

Twitch is Declawed in the front, 3 years old and neutered. He is currently residing in the Humane Society of Northwestern Pennsylvania. I hope someone gives him a chance. He might be a great addition to a home.

It's too bad they don't have some nice volunteer come in to take good pictures of the animals. Sometimes it really helps to have people do that.

Featured Rescue Updates - February

It's been a long time since I did a Featured Rescue update on this blog so I thought I would do one now! The following cats I listed on my blog have been adopted (or if their listing has been removed ... hopefully they have not been euthanized!):

Featured Rescue - Raine (young - adopted)
Featured Rescue - Gus (adult - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Halo (adult approaching senior - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Rosie (adolescent - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Mickey (kitten - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Gypsy (adult - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Zombie (adult - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Stormy (senior - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Squeakers (senior - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Sasha (senior - listing removed)
Featured Rescue - Peaches (young - listing removed)

Congratulations to those cats! (I hope) The following cats are still looking for new homes:

Featured Rescue - Hex (kitten)
Featured Rescue - Maude (adolescent)
Featured Rescue - Deuce ("young")
Featured Rescue - Teena Marie (senior)
Featured Rescue - Maggie (senior)
Featured Rescue - Cinders (senior)
Featured Rescue - Cookie (senior)
Featured Rescue - Sky and Myrt (adult)
Featured Rescue - Oliver (adult)
Featured Rescue - Jack Black (adult)

Remember, SPAY AND NEUTER your cats! There are so many out there looking for homes many are euthanized every day. There are just too many out there. The numbers are STAGGERING. Sometimes the rescues and shelters have to make that decision for those animals that are more difficult to adopt. When a listing has been removed I always hope that the animal has been adopted and not euthanized.
