Featured Rescue - Black Cat Friday

On my Dogs Deserve Freedom blog, I have created a Black Dog Monday post where I will feature a black dog every Monday. I am now making a similar post here but it will be called Black Cat Friday.

Black animals are notoriously difficult to adopt out of rescue and shelter situations. Because of this, I have decided to dedicate one day per week to Black Cats looking for homes. Nominations are welcome; if you know of a shelter that has many black cats needing homes let me know and I will post some of them.

Today's Black Cat Featured Rescue is Jack Black. His ad on Petfinder states that Jack was one of the 18 cruelty cases that was brought to us during the holidays. You can probably see from the photo that he has a gorgeous long mane of fur - which is why his previous owners were using him for breeding - NOT cool! Jack is a beautiful cat who is in need of a home. He is currently located at Etobicoke Humane Society. If you can offer him a home, please contact them at 416.249.6100.

Why are black cats/dogs harder to adopt? My very first kitty was pure black (well, she still is actually LOL). And black labs are so sweet. I don't really understand.

Oh my that is a pretty cat. Hopefully that will help him find a wonderful home.

There are many superstitions surrounding black cats (and black dogs too). For one reason or another, people just don't pick them. They are always the last out of shelters. That's why I decided to dedicate one day per week to black cats here and one day per week to black dogs on my other blog.

Yes, I agree. Nice looking guy.
